This is the first "official" smoked beer I’ve tried, and it’s truly an interesting and awesome style. Big maltiness with a pronounced hickory-ish smokiness. Smoky in the style of smoked cheese. Really awesome. DukeofYork (44), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Sweet, malty, delcious rounded smoke taste, very multilayered, stays with you for a minute or two, developing ... I can smell the fire! Absolutely to die for. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2007 Dark, clear, coppery color, the perfect hue for a marzen, with abundant foam atop, creamy, and leaving lace. Beautiful looking glass of beer.
Aroma: bacon. Big malt, sweetness, but mostly smoke, cured ham, smoked salmon, memories of meat.
This continues into the taste, and joins the palate most pleasantly. Crowds the mouth with sensation. Juicy malt, a fine marzen lies underneath, and is treated well with the smoking.
Much milder than other rauchbiers, the smoke playing gently, it’s at the fore, but never too much.
Medium bodied, but fully flavored, with a mild, malty finish. Tasty.
A remarkable experience, and unforgettable beer. y0cola (361), fremont, California, USA

Great full flavor, which was extremely thick and filled with smoke and bitter malts. BigBastard (668), L.A., California, USA

Tastes just like smoked sausage, it was excellent. I think more than one bottle at a sitting would be way too much though. rdawson321 (145), USA

It hits you with the aroma of campfire and pine, with a lot of bacon, sausage, salt, and pepper. It’s a great pour, with a foamy head that lasts the glass and a deep red amber color. It’s the first smoked I’ve had, and it’s really a lot of fun to drink. Great palate. Everybody should try this, but I don’t think I could drink it on a regular basis. Great brew though. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 19, 2006 For some reason I was expecting this to pour very dark but was surprised to see it pour a deep golden with a thick, creamy head. Pork butts in the smoker - boy oh boy this smells fantastic! Salted meats, charred woods, pipe tobaccos, the list goes on. I could smell this all day. Medium body slows the pace slightly - noting bready malts, spicy bacon and fresh woods. Although I really enjoy the finesse involved with the malt bill - I could use a little more ’meat’ - sorry for the pun - in the body. Overall, a fantastic example of the style and one definitely to be enjoyed with a heavy meat dish. beergut111 (210), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Bottle. Nice brownish colour with a off white head. The smokey taste was very unique and reminded me of a bonfire. I will definitely drink this again.
