The flavor is rich yet not overdone. Very smooth finish. Nice lingering smokiness accompanies you as you imbibe this beauty. Wonderful. jerohen (1615), Bussum, Netherlands

A very strong smoky aroma with a very gentle smooth flavour. I'm glad i've given this one another shot. Original rate: (1.6) This is the first and last rauchbier i have ever tried. It's just not my kind of beer. Tastes like ashes. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

Tastes like bacon, but very smooth. Bit dry palate. Nice to have tried one, but i’ll probably stick to one, that’s enough of this kind of beers. proc (342), Dearborn, Michigan, USA

What a different experience this was. So much so, that I had to go out and get another bottle of it! Very good. Drink this while eating something heavy, like a pot roast or venison. Very good. lovibond (112), New York, USA

They even malt their own barley, and kiln it over a Bocha (beechwood) fire. If you’re ever in Bamberg, be sure to visit the Schlenkerla Ausschank, where this is served from the Holzfaß (wooden keg). Much more aggressively smoked than their Weizenbier (which is destined to also be a world classic).
