Very, very dark brown and ruby. Pale and large bubbly, nice lacing. Beautiful aroma of smoke, bratwurst, tar and burnt wood. Taste of smoked sausage and tar-pastilles in malty body. Long smokey finish. Delicate beer but one bootle per eve is just enough.

Clear deep orange-red beer with an off tan, thin head. Smokey/malty nose that says German lager. Smooth malty/smokey flavor. Full body lends itself to the smoke. Every time I have a beer made by these guys, I am impressed by how well it is made. Prost!

(bottled) Dark reddish brown & crystal clear. Strong smoke aroma, underlying malt, and salami?? Malty, medium-bodied and duh, smoky. Smoke dominates the entire experience but the underlying other qualities of the beer somehow manage to almost balance it. I'm rating this beer (as all the others) not on my personal preferences, but what the brewers intended. Seems like you love it or don't: I'll need a few more bottles to make up my mind.

This beer definitly smells like meat and I drank it with some meat and they went well together. Drank brown color with a hint of amber coloring. Has very little head. This beer isnt thick but still satisfying to the taste. 8/3/8/8/16
BR>Rerate. Ahh the youthfull ratings. but this is a standard in my house and a lovely berr altogether. The reason i sit to rerate is I got to try this on tap at the Hop Devil Grill. Well, all the smokiness is exaggerated and the beer really does seem fresher. Its a very silky smokiness with some sweetness to it. A beautiful extremely dark brown color with just a bit of brown translucence. Whats there to say its just freaking a good ass smoke and even better on tap. 9/4/8/3/18

Very heavy smoke aroma. A true bacon-beer. Very dark but clear reddish-brown with a finger of fully-diminishing large-bubbled white head. Some lacing. Initial smoky flavour gives way to a wonderful supporting maltiness in this medium/light bodied marzen. Aftertaste is all smoke. A very enjoyable beer although I think the smoke may be a bit over the top for some. Not your everyday lawnmower beer. Bottle.

Deep amber. Nice head. Smoky smell as soon as I openend the bottle. Initial taste like smoky bacon. Then I was able to taste the full-bodied, malty Märzen underneath the smoke. Smoky and slightly hoppy finish. I love this beer. Since it lacks any bitterness and sourness, it goes down so easily that you have to ration the beer in your stein. Or you just get another one from the fridge.

In the 5L mini-keg. A graduate student from Germany in the lab brought me a keg of this back from her recent visit home. Wow! That’s some serious smoke. Black in color, white head. Body a little light to balance the peat, but then again, it would have to be solid in texture to do that. I suggest you try this when the opportunity arises.

This beer has swept a carneous after taste the minute it entered my mouth! I have never felt such presence right at the beginning. The aroma is one of burned leaves or smoked meat and there is a pale ale-like feel in the finish. Although the smoke effect is rather stronger than the rest.
