Initial taste like smoky bacon. Then I was able to taste the full-bodied, malty Märzen underneath the smoke. Smoky and slightly hoppy finish. I love this beer. Since it lacks any bitterness and sourness, it goes down so easily that you have to ration the beer in your stein. Or you just get another one from the fridge. bigbeersrule (58), USA

I just had it on draft at Papago Brewing and it was a lot smoother than the bottled version but I will have to admit that it is an acquired taste. Dark and smokey. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Like Lapsang Souchong tea? Well I do, and it smells just like it... FANTASTIC smoked scent that I wish they made Yankee Candles of.
Taste... ahh that is Lapsang Souchong. Gorgeous. Smooth, mellow, refreshing, and rich. This is it folks... this is the taste I have been longing for.
Damn good beer. MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark

Flavour is of course also quite smokey. It is hard to taste anything but smoke, even though the carbonation balances it a bit. Seems malty. Bitterness shows itself once "the smoke clears" from your palate. Mouthfeel is nice and smooth. 8 3 9 4 17

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 18, 2009 0.5 L bottle. Relatively transparent despite its very dark coppery colour. Thick light beige head reminiscent of shaving foam (a compliment). Strong smoked peat scent with a dash of hops behind. Complex taste with a strong malty basis, the smoked note and nice fruitiness. Uncompromising smokey/spicy aftertaste. Velvety body. Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA

I enjoyed this beer as it is meant to be enjoyed: with some nice smoked ham in a stoneware lager glass. Very well suited to drinking with anything smoked or spicey. Definitely the very best of the smoke beers. ecbeerguy (86), East Chicago, Indiana, USA

I swear that’s teryaki beef jerky. The head is nice, the aroma is different, but different is good. This is pure genius. I’m not sure how to describe soft, as a mouth-feel, but this is it. This is very good. AmEricanbrew (1946), orange, California, USA

Light/medium body. Big smoked meat/pepperoni/black pepper/jerky spice flavors with a hint of lightly sweet pale malt in the finish. Now, if we only had some smoked peppers in here....A liquid Philly Cheese sandwich. Love it
