From a bottle. Pours a dark brown. The smell is amazing. Smells a lot like some of the stronger smoked cheeses I have tried. The taste is startling and unique. Very strong smoked meat or cheese flavor on top of a quality brewed lager. I’ve never had anything like this before and I’m extremely interested in trying other smoked beers if they exist.

(bottle) The bouquet reminds me of Parma bacon. Dark red-amber colour with a thick lightly tanned head. The smoked bacon aroma leaves not much room for more, but is great anyway. Even the initial taste is quite smoky, but offers a lot of more impressions; flavours of smoked bacon, toasted malts and burnt wood with a long dry finish, crispy carbonated and lighter bodied than expected. I have to visit Bamberg to get the whole bunch of its great beers as soon as possible.

0,5lt. bottle .At "1920" restaurant in Athens. My first rauchbier and I was really impressed. Great with the BBQ plate that I ordered.Very dark brown in color. Aromas and taste of smoked bacon , ash, nice saltiness. Great , I will drink it again (and again...)

Poured black with a deep brown head. Great smokey aroma. Body was definitely full. I found the smoke to come on immediately but mellowed out tremendously as it washed down. Easier than the Urbock but not as intense. Smooth finish, great beer. I love this brewer.

Aroma is of smoked meat. Pours a caramel brown with white head. Goes down smooth. Usually for beers like this with such intense flavor I wouldn’t have more than one, but this one I could drink a few. I wish I had some smoked meat or cheese to pair this beer with, I bet it would be amazing!

Bottle pours a beige head that sticks just a little and a clear brown body with copper and amber highlights. Smells of bacon, roasted malt, and dark sugar. Flavor is bacon, charcoal, smoke, and caramelized malt. Finish is smoke and caramel.

Hard to really contribute too much more to the website with this review. Initial woodfire smoke aroma followed up with smoked hock. Very well balance flavour that makes it quite more-ish and very sessionable. Good, even carbonation but a bit short on the finish. Very solid.
