Well carbonated with a thin line of head around the edge of the glass. The aroma is enticing. The woody, smoked, char smells all mingle in your nose and remind me of well cooked bacon. It goes down smooth with all the smokey flavor hitting in the aftertaste. Very tasty in small doses. Perhaps a smaller bottle would be a better idea. I imagine this would go exceptionally well with a ham dinner, or even BBQ. Different, but quite enjoyable. Holdwine (908), Beertimore, Maryland, USA

You can’t put this down, although a little too complex to quaff. Enjoy and look for the prunes in the finish. Ungstrup (15371), Frederiksberg, Denmark

And the flavor is very powerful and dominated by tar and smoke. Really a great beer. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA

As promised, there is intense amounts of smoke in the aroma and in the flavor. Those of you who know me, know that I don’t really tend to appreciate smoked beers too much, but overall, I can say that this one is very decently made: it is not "artificially" flavored, so luckily it does not taste like flacid bacon. It has a nice balance of moderate maltiness without too much sweetness and a clean, refreshing finish. Nice. hayden1215 (305), Ohio, USA

Aroma is that of smoke with grain. Flavor moderately sweet & bitter. Finish is slightly bitter. I’m not sure I could drink this all the time, but I did enjoy it. The smokiness was not overpowering. I recommend having it with a meal, I had one with a fat ruben sandwich, excellent joeyplush (337), Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, USA

I have put this one off for years as friends and pros would put me off with the smoked ham hock reference. Well the bark is worse than the bite, at least the bottle, as the tap version is very aromatic. Dark amber color, small head. Yes a noticable smoke aroma, country ham hocks spot on. Taste is mildly smokey, not nearly as bad as the liquid smoke I was lead to believe. As a positive I can see the potential with food pairings with this beer.
