This is certainly a new beer drinking experience. Aroma is smoked ham, bacon. and salami. Appearance is dark brown bordering on black. Flavor is of dark malt and a variety of smoked meat. A cookout or a meat lover's pizza in a bottle. I can see people being weirded out by this experience but I think its an excellent beer even better than Stone's Smoked Porter.

This beer is much more smoked sausage tasting than like a normal beer. It is enjoyable for a depart from normal beer tastes. Smoky smooth with roasted nutty hints.

On tap at HDG. Deep dark brown in color with a nice fluffy tan head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Malty smokey bacon aroma. Malty smokey molasses flavor. The smokeyness lingers throughout the whole beer. Smooth mouthfeel. Creamy. Finish is smokey. Full bodied. Very enjoyable. Delicious.

Dark brown appearance with a trace of red; average head, good lacing. Intense, woodsy aroma that hinted of pepperoni. Smooth, roasted malt taste with mild bitterness. Medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, and a long lasting, balanced finish.

Dark amber colored with a tan head. Aroma of smoky bacon and sausage as soon as you pop the top. Smoky flavor as well along with malt and a hoppy aftertaste. Medium bodied. Very enjoyable, but you can only have it once in a while.

This is a delicious beer. Thanks again, so much to Shrubber85 for the bottle. Very dark brown body, quickly receding tan head. Definitely a very smokey aroma. Medium carbonation was nice, The sweetness of the malt is very well balanced with the smokey taste. The aftertaste is also very pleasant, perhaps a little spicey, reminiscent of a fine smoked gouda cheese. At any rate, this is a style I’ll need to look at more closely in the future.

trappist glass: smokey! i liked this over their urbock... okay: dark copper body with ruby highlight. thin white head. very smooth indeed. lighter on the smoke than the urbock, but perhaps it’s my palate today. wood, smokey sweet, and just a little dry. this is excellent. slightly bitter to balance. it’s well together. i’m eating it with some smoky sharp cheddar right now and it’s not too powerful. i need to soak some brats in this baby!
