The smoke flavor comes out like hickory smoked bacon, and I love hickory smoked bacon

Bottle. Definitely gives the drinker what it says. Strong smoked ham aroma, dark brown color, and a strong smoky flavor (reminiscent of hickory smoke or liquid smoke (tm).

Medium finely laced head topping a dark wine-red clear body. Aroma is mostly smoke, like smoked sausage minus the sausage. Some malts as well. Taste is sweet malts quickly overpowered by the smokiness, the fading into a smoky smooth bitterness. Aroma is smokier than the taste. Somehow the smoke makes it feel silkily smooth. Taste settles in the mouth as you drink. A very interesting beer; so interesting, in fact, that drinking it in greater quantities requires some practice. It is more than worth the effort, though. (0.5l bottle. Rerated.)

Bottle. I went on a trip to my fav. store looking for styles I had avoided in the past. Smokebeers included. This was excellent. The oily smokey aroma reminded me of smoked cheese and sausage. The experience was like drinking beef jerky. I could see times and places where a beer like this would fit perfectly.

500 ml bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a tan head that diminishes to a ring but continues to lace. Aroma of barbeque smoke and malts. Flavor is really heavy on the smoke. Its wonderful. Lightly sweet malt and intense smoke fading to a light hop bitterness and drying out on the finish. I have been looking for this beer for ages, and it certainly lives up to the hype. Complex and interesting, and very enjoyable to drink. My wife says “its gross” but then she drinks strawberry margarita coolers… $3.49 at Total Wine, Jacksonville FL.

Pours very dark, but clear. Actually kind of an ugly color. Aroma is smoky and reminds me of smoked pork. Flavor is smoky as well and has a nice sweetness to it without being overbearing. A bitterness follows the sweetness and makes for a well balanced beer. This is far better than I was expecting.

Smoky German farm sausage taste and aroma with warm malty-sweet underpinnings. Rounded hop dryness. Medium body, translucent Bock-like appearance with slight head. Long smoky aftertaste and dry tongue! Acrid feel. Probably only slightly healthier than chewing tobacco, but a must-try for all beer-imbibing lunatics. 50cl bottle was slightly cooled. **RE-RATE** added a substantial overall & flavor up-rate. Real great stuff, like drinking artisan wood-smoked ham from Tyrol. I beleive!!!

Dark brown color, with a frothy tan-colored head, leaving good laces on the glass. Quite smoky nose, smell like smoked mussels, hint of smoked bacon, burnt malt in the aroma follows through on a full-bodied smoky palate, with a smoked malt, oily texture, campfire logwood note, hint of ashness, roasted malt, caramelized malt, leading towards an amazing smoky finish. A very nice smoky beer, a must!
