To me, it was like drinking some of the German sausages that I ate as a kid. Great stuff, but very filling.

Aroma hits like a ton of bricks. Epic smoked ham explodes from the head, even more so than the Urbock. That’s really the only note I can pick up because it’s so strong and overriding.
The meatiness is toned down in the flavor, taking on more of a smoky campfire character. Underneath the salty twang, there’s a really smooth maltiness that finishes surprisingly clean. There’s a little bitterness in the finish too, but I can’t figure out if it’s hops or a charred remnant of the smoked malt.
Smooth and easy drinkin’ despite the extreme flavor. Medium body and perfect carbonation. SirPip (13), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA

Deep brown in color. Aromas of wood and campfire smoke. Good body weight. Smoke really comes through on the finish, which is fairly long. Would go great with like a smoked salmon fillet. rustychiles (1067), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Flavor is smokey bacon, meats, woods, and malt. Holy cow, I feel like i’m drinking smoked briskquet, yet this is very well done. Finish is mesquite smoked brisquet and mesquite. Very nice smoked beer. BOLTZ7555 (1113), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Backyard barbeque floods through the nose. The flavor is that of roasted pork with notes of molasses, coffee, and oak. Bring out the burgers, throw down some dogs...this will be the perfect compliment. ansermadide (523), Kyle, Texas, USA

No carbonation. Aroma is of super smoky barbecue. Can’t tell the real difference between this and the urbock. Flavor is PERFECT with prune-stuffed pork loin! WeeAnaP loved it!!! She said, "yummy!" Yep... smoky goodness and uber-yummy! lowgun1212 (87), Montclair, New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 8, 2008 Pours a dark brown reddish rusty color. Aroma is smoked spiced sausage and campfire. Very robust flavor of grilled sausage or pork. The roasted malts really supports the smoky flavors. Very creamy and a nice medum-full body. Not quite as good as the Urbock, but definitely close to it.
