A bit smoky. Soft and creamy m/f. Delicious. (original rate- 3.6) Bottled, Piper’s End Beer Festival. Startlingly smoky, Viking Jorvik Centre nose, according to some of my samplers. This is really wrinkling a few nostrils. An ancient, waxy, bootpolishy, but above all, beechwoody smokiness. A definite hint of museum. Considering the nose, pours with a surprisingly clear red transparency. Still, flattish mouthfeel. Smoky but creamy, like Austian smoked cheese. Can’t help but think of smoked hams and Bratwurst. Massively evocative nose. The smokiness in the flavour is only marginally more assertive than in Black Cat or Cain’s Dark Mild. Got to try this with food next time. Completely unique, and wonderfully offensive to outsiders. molassesfan (201), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

Balanced creamy mouthfeel. Lingering meaty alcohol finish. Interesting beer. Theis (3793), Denmark

Smoked ham aroma, salty and slightly sweet. Heavy mouthful with sparse but lively carbonation. Sweeter malt taste, lots of wood and smoke, salty, with a unexpected dry and bitter finish. Like pouring sugar on a campfire.
