Pours dark brown with a thick beige head. smoky nose. Flavour from smoked pork, with spicy hints. Malty and somewhat woody. Full bodied.

Mahogany body with a medium beige head. I just drank a bottle of the Marzen and a bottle of the Urbock side-by-side. Smoke-time!!! Although their Urbock is supposed to be the reference for the Smoked genre I thought the Marzen more than held its own. Aroma was campfire smoke for the Marzen and smoked bacon for the Urbock. Smoke intensity in mouth was comparable (very high for both). The Marzen has a lighter body with flavours of roasted malts, candies, light caramel and a surprise lemony twist. The finish was refreshing and even a little tart. The Urbock on the other hand has flavours of creamy malts, thick caramel, molasses with a long and intense finish of molasses. It’s a draw. Overall the Urbock is more intense but because of its heavy side I wouldn’t drink two pints in a row. While with the Marzen after one pint I was craving for more and more. Full of smoke and addictive, makes you wonder what they put in it…

Pours a clear brown with a tanned head. Light sweetness. Strong aromas of tar, leather and salami. Dry, leathery finish. Medium bodied. Reminds me of a classic Swedish mosquito repellant. I´m surpriced I liked it this much. I guess it would be good with fried eggs and bacon.

25 oz. bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with red highlights when held to a light. Moderate linen-white head that faded to a thick, creamy film and left partial lacing on the glass. The aroma is very nice with a strong but mellow fragrance of smoke along with a bit of earthiness. The flavor was equally pleasant with the smoke taking center stage, but not overpowering and not excessively sharp. There is also some malt flavor that comes through. Surprisingly smooth. Well done.

Aug. 2006 - This is one well crafted brew. It’s been sitting in my fridge for some time now, I could never get in the mood for it. Even tonight I popped the top and just thought, "Ugh, wet burnt wood." Pour was beautiful, nice head, nice lacing, dark reddish brown color. The first sip brought a tremendous surprise. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. This tasted liked some smokey bacon or sausage...not just smoke, but it actually tastes like other spices commonly found in smoked meat as well. Liquid pork product, smoked in a glass.

Dark brown with a tan rocky head. Unmistakable smoky aroma dominates. Malty flavor with a smoky character that extends well into the finish. Any hop flavor or aroma overwhelmed by the smoke, although some bitterness shows through in the finish.

Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a deep dark brown with a small reddish brown head. Aromas of liquid smoke, sardines, and firewood. Flavors of chocolate, espresso, and smoke. Nice dry crisp finish. Smokey aftertaste stays with you for awhile.

From 50 cL bottle. Pours amber brown with a lacing light brown head. Meady and smoked aroma. Bacon flavoured and quite smoked. Damn this is good.
