Nice dark copper color with a big off-white head. Beautiful big smoky aroma which recalls a campfire. Taste is a bit malty, fine but not terribly flavorful Body is a bit thin. A good, drinkable smoke beer.

This is different! The aroma is of kielbasa or smoked bacon. The head is creamy off white, fully diminishing with good lacing. The body is a deep red/brown. The initial flavor is a light bitter and the finish is a light bitter and the duration is long. The body is light to medium and the texture is almost creamy with light carbonation. This would be an excellent bier to have with stuffed grilled jalapeno’s and habenero’s. We stuff them with Italian sausage, gouda cheese and cover with bacon and put on the grill for 45 minutes to an hour - Man would this be good with that!

0.5 l bottle. Mahagony color with creamy head. Strong smoky and tarry aroma. Malty, smoky, woody and tarry flavor. Strong smoke aroma and flavor, yet very balanced and tasty.

500ml from Total Wine, Durham. When you’re in the mood for a rauchbier (or as my wife calls it, a "meat beer") I’m not sure you can do much better than dial up this classic. Pours like a substantial brown ale, clear, impressively colored, with a fairly minimal head. But the aroma is just ka-pow! Deep in the pit, with the hog on the spit. It’s not meat beer in the abstract, but lovely wood smoked bbq. What’s nice is the high quality of the marzen at the heart of it all, with some hops battling through the strong smoked malts, and a very rich creamy body (much fuller than I remember). A delight.

A very nice rauchbier, this one was great from the pour onward. The poure was dark brown with a great pillowy head that really laced quite nicely. The aroma was of deep smoked hickory wood (the char from a fire) and exceeded my prior single rauchbier experience. Flavor was strong and deep malts. This beer was super rich in both malty character and smokiness. Good stuff.

like liquid jerky and I mean that as a compliment. Probably wouldn’t want to have more than 1L of this at any one time because the flavor is a bit strong, but I felt it a great sitting beer.

Dark red brown beer with a creamy beige head. Very smoky aroma and taste. Reminds me of BBQ and bacon. Very soft carbonation. Very long remaining aftertaste.

This is how to make a smoked. Not too over the top, with nice woody and ham tones on the nose and palate. Easy drinking and very enjoyable. Pours a beautiful dark amber red too with good head retention. All in all very goo.
