Pours like a flat cola. Dark brown, clear, carbonated, but no head. Has the aroma of a smoked ham, brown sugar, apple, caramel. Liquid smoke, thick, smooth, and very well balanced. The finish is very chocolaty, with nice coffee and malt roastiness. Very tasty. Palate is thick smooth tasty. Wonderful beer.

Poured a nice brown color with hints of ruby and a small tan head that dissipated quickly. The aroma was pure smokiness. Flavor is dominated by the woody smoke flavor, but a bit of grain and caramel maltiness are detectable. Mouthfeel is of a medium-bodied beer. I found it very drinkable and enjoyed it immensely.

Pourd deep ruby and clear. Medium-sized head is creamy and white in colour. Aroma is distincively deep and roasted with sweetish smoked ham-like malts, some ash and a hint of hops. Rich flavor is full of smoked, sweetish malts and the finish is medium bitter. Some sourish, coffee-like roastedness in the finish too. Palate is supersmooth and silky, medium bodied and slick. Fuller and more biter than märzen. Urbock is almost too easy and pleasant to be interesting anymore.

Dark brown with a nonexistent head. A very strong aroma of tar and smoke that’s continued in the flavor. Deserves credit for being a rauchbier that actually tastes like beer too. Raised the score a bit since I learned to like the flavor.

Deep reddish brown colour, thin off-white head. Nice aroma of smoke, tar and roasted malts. Sweet smoky malts and salty liquorice in the flavour, warm and dry ashy finish. Smooth and pleasant mouthfeel. Delicious.

Bottle. Dark brown, almost black colour with a medium off-white head. Aroma is smoked malt with notes of tar. Tastes like smoked ham with some roasted malt. Medium to full-bodied. Another delicious beer from the brewery.

Appearance: Pours a dark mahogany-hued body with a small, bubbly, off-white head. Smell: Bacon-wrapped top-shelf hot dogs smoked atop a wood fire and served with barbecued pork products. Some minor sweetness hints in back, but you gotta look past a whole grocery aisle worth of smoked meat products. Taste: Roasted, toasted grains and yet another Schlenkerla plate of smoked meats. Charred wood. Sweet, slender maltiness underneath with a bit of creme caramel. Roasty, smoke-laden finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Perhaps Schlenkerla has slowly worked me up the smoke scale to the point where I find this both pleasant and keenly drinkable, but, well, I find it both pleasant and keenly drinkable.
