~Smoked bacon and woodsy aroma with undertones of a malty bock.
~Aggressive smoke flavor that is quickly mellowed out by the crisp malty bock. Good balance between the two.
~Light refreshing feel, smoky malty sweet finish, a bit dry.
~Another delicious brew. I did enjoy the Marzen better. This one is much maltier and sweeter. corby112 (740), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 28, 2009 Pours a very dark chestnut brown color with amber/mahogany edges when held up to a light source and a huge frothy dark beige head that has excellent retention throughout, leaving large chunks of lacing throughout the glass.
Beautiful smokey aroma with smoked chocolate malts, charcoal, BBQ, burnt wood notes and subtle hops.
Very smooth drinking medium body, especially since it is so smokey. Huge smoked malt flavor with hints of oatmeal, chocolate malt, barbecued bacon, charcoal and subtle hop presence. The smokiness is not overbearing and I actually wish there was more of it. This beer is awesome! Geokkjer (256), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2009 500 ml bottle. Clear, reddish amber body with a big, dense, beige head. Aroma is totally dominated by smoke but also a hint of caramel. Flavor dominated by smoke, campfire sausages, skin from mackerel, bacon, and also some sweet malt and hops. There is some kind of complexity here well hidden behind a wall off smoke. Interesting but not exactly my thing. RPillsbury (112), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England

Outstanding aroma of fireside smokiness, hay and a touch of a meaty quality. Lovely, rich umami flavours, touching on smoked beef jerky (in a good way). There’s some caramel and licorice as well. Absolutely fantastic. RichardGretton (3148), Leicestershire, England
