Commercial Description:
(Translation from Russian):
The special harmonious combination of hop bitterness and malt aroma gives the pleasant clean taste to this beer. Heavy and strong, it is brewed with the addition of rice, which gives to the beer the pale-straw color, characteristic for its elite quality.

Ok I must be getting soft in my old age but I thought this beer was decent for an American Standard from Russia. Medium gold body clear body with a white rapidly diminshing head. Some lacig and the surpising part... it actually had some palate to it with a decent mouthfeel. Yes the corn was noticable as was the slight sweetness but the hoppy bitterness and crispness also was evident. Have another one comrade.

This Russian lager has a clear, copper-golden color with a thin, white head. Sweet aroma of malt and corn with a touch of hops. Light body and moderate carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is sweet and lagerish up front. The finish is crisp with some mild hop notes and a lingering sweetness. Not bad really, kinda sweet though.

Fairly standard lager in classic Soviet fashion: golden color, medium head, sweetish aroma and lightly fruity and malty taste. Hops? No, not here.

Orange/yellow colore; head was: poof! gone! nose was full of banana. Went flat the moment it was poured. Strange. Sour banana.

Smells deceptively like a strong ale with a promise of spice. Slightly cloudy dirty yellow. Sweet with an unexpected alcohol finish. A certain peppery aftertaste. Not sure exactly what they were going for as it tastes like a mix of styles. Rather a weird mix for a pilsener.

Sweet and thirstquenching. Very nice and pleasant, compared to the other Soviet brews. Afanasiy seems a tad better than Botchkarev Brewing.
