Multifacated bottle's red label says "Afanasy Tver Beer Dark." Dark golden in color, head is white and moderately large. Strange caramely, grassy, dry coffee ground aroma. Very sweet, caramel malt flavor; this is most definitely a dunkel. Finish is sugary sweet, almosy Karo syrupy. If you can get past the gag-inducing aroma, this is actually pretty good.

Intriguing aroma. At different times vinegar, molasses and pumpkin pie spices. Very nice look, copper with a dirty brown head and good lacing. First couple of sips are confusing and off-putting. After that the tongue becomes acustomed to the malt and spice. Finish of lasting light pepper. Alcohol familiarity as the beer warms.

I took some serious searching to figure out what beer this actually was. An extremely nondescript bottle triangular in shape and saying little more than Dark Tver beer. Fairly dark lager, dark nut brown with and reeking of something very disinct. The sharp and fruity nose reminds me a bit of carmelized brown sugar and raisins or plums. The malt here seemes distinctly sharp, and the lager bite is there, but this is truly a unique beer.

Dark amber colour with a mostly lasting tan coloured head. Mostly caramel aroma with a bit of minty, almost bandaid notes. Slight caramel up front, finishing with a long even bitterness. Finish has a bit of harshness, though. Medium bodied, but slightly watery finish.

Starts off with a malty, overripe vegetable aroma - not unpleasant. The color is dark ruby red - looks like a barley wine. The head is spotty and clumpy. Flavor is initially malty sweet but turns cloying quite quickly. Has elements of chocolate and prunes. Interesting bottle - looks like a Russian bottle of Worcestershire Sauce.

First, it's got an interesting conical, faceted bottle. While that's interesting to look at, it wants to slip out of your hands when wet. Dark malty aroma. Sweet, sugary, grain bitter with some chocolate and dark grain syrup flavors. I was a little disappointed in the carbonation -- a little flat, perhaps it's just this bottle. Long grain bitter finish. Drinkable, but there are better values to be had at the asking price ($9.30/ 6)

Clear, dark brown/ruby red colored body. It has a thin, off-white head that lingers a while before dissipating. Aroma is malty sweet with some sugary and cardboard notes. Medium body with low carbonation. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. The flavor is good and malty with some hints of raisins and plums. Finish is long and sweet. Quite tasty.
