As blonds go, this one is fairly tasty with a good balance. There is a slight bitterness near the end, but it is not enough to take away from the overall drinking experience that is Affligem Blonde. Although good, I wouldn’t consider this above and beyond what most belgian whites offer.

33 cl bottle from LCBO. Hazy blond with a medium white head. Aroma is citrusy, hearbal and malty with notes of yeast. Taste is at first citrusy and malty, than, some herbal notes from hops and a slight bitterness in aftertaste.

Poured a strongly effervescent golden with a large fluffy white head. Strong aroma of grassy noble hops, pear juice, orangey citrus and some alcohol dryness. Flavor is light and refreshing toffee, lemony acidity, some light grassiness. Flavor becomes a bit more muddled on successive tastes. Finishes vinous and slightly dry. Body is light and lively. Sort of a toned down version of a generic Belgian Strong ale. Very drinkable and refreshing, while retaining enough complexity to remain interesting.

Golden with white head. Flavour is light to moderately bitter with light acidity. A good amount of alcohol is present in the long finish which balances the sweetness. Dry bitter aftertaste.

Small offwhite head over hazy light orange body. Aroma is spicy, grassy hops, sweetish yeast with a strange, egg-like character, wood, and a whiff of licorice and terpentine, and some alcohol. Taste is quite sharp, bitter hops, somewhat acidic, spicy wood and grainy malts. Aroma is clearly better than the taste. Somewhat disappointing mouthfeel, a bit thin and lacking in body. (0.33l bottle.)
