Carmel notes in the flavor and the aroma. Dark somewhat cloudy pour, good fermentation, the cork even popped. It took a moment to realize that the burn was from the alcohol and not warming spices. I enjoyed this!

Medium yellowish beige head shrinks rapidly. Deep brownish red body with light carbonation. Brown sugary fruity spicy roasted caramel aroma with banana notes. Deep sweet taste of brown sugar, dried fruit, caramel, and banana. Dryish peppery spicy muscat aftertaste with lingering wooden notes. A light trappist dubbel, but still very nice. (0.33l bottle at Het Paleis, Schiphol.)

Affligem Dubbel has a bread-dough aroma, foam topped muddied body and hints of chocolate, citrus and caramel malts. Enjoyable Dubble that according to the label has been brewed for centuries. Heineken is doing a good job of keeping the quality in this dubbel.

Nice dark brown with solid head and good lacing; a pretty beer. Robust malt flavors and aromas support this lightly fruited entry. The intriguing chocolate, coffee malts are buoyed by dried fruits and juicy berry flavors. The aroma and taste show promise, but prove to be a little thin, as a more complex and full flavored depth would make this brew a great one. Overall not bad.

1 Pint Bottle. Deep brown coloring with tan foam that reduces quickly. Sweet smell of malt and sugars with a bit of fruit. Smooth flavor with a spicy finish. A very good dubbel.

75cL bottle, from old notes. Deep mahogany color with bubbly tan foam, horrible retention and lacing. Aroma is very faintly dark malts and some toffee. Flavor is a little lacking, a little bit of dark malts and some sugary sweetness. Very thin for the style.

750ml Bottle - Dark ruby-brown color with a good sized off-white head that quickly dissipates. Somewhat sweet smell, mostly of malts and sugars with some fruity notes. A nice caramel malt flavor with a good spicy kick to the finish. Soft, smooth mouth feel. A very good, but not quite excellent, dubbel. Definitely work a try.
