bottle: Pours a reddish brown ale in the goblet - tight, sticky 1 finger tan cap. Toffee-spice-earthy aroma, bready notes, some roastiness. A tad thin for the style but with a decent complexity of dark ripe fruits, caramel-rasty malts, some sugar sweetness and a dry finish with licorice aftertastes, A boiler plate commercial dubbel, far better than Leffe but still lacking in the defined character and body expected of the style.

Bottle. Great beer. Redish brown with frothy head. Yeasty nose with cinnamon. Creamy body, brown sugar with clean finish.

330 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a murky amber/copper with large creamy tan head. Nose of spice and dark fruit. Taste follows fairly closely. Slight alcoholic warmth and touch of bitterness in finish.

I tried this beer on October 30, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a deep reddish-brown with a 1/2" tan head. The aroma was roasted malt, caramel, and plums. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt, slightly sweet, some fruit, and licorice in the finish.

Huge yeast aroma, very bready. Flavor is belgian yeast, some spice, fruit, brown sugar and a load of carbonation. Not as malty as I’d hoped.

330 ml bottle from LCBO, served almost cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep ruby-copper with a fair light tan head. Aroma: Some nice, slightly tangy and vinous dark dried fruits and other fruitiness, some spicy brown sugar, some sweet caramel/toffee, light minty herbals, pretty nice. Palate: Medium body and moderate carbonation. Flav.: Lots of rich, sweet malts, brown sugar, light molasses, slight nuttiness, fairly fruity, light nuttiness, very lightly vinous and bright; off-dry with a touch of bitterness.

Not awesome for the style, but still quite drinkable.

330mL bottle from the LCBO fall release. Cool label. Wasn’t sure if I’d had this before as I get Leffe and Affligem mixed up all the time. Bottle gushed like crazy. Pours a nice clearish burgundy with a large beige head. The aroma is straight up apple cinnamon cobbler, pear, plum, seems like a mild version of La Trappe Quad, which is awesome. Smells great. The flavour is quite sharp, spicy biting at the tongue followed by the nice Belgian caramalt malts, candi sugar and subtle hints of the esters in the aroma. Very drinkable. A pretty solid little Dubbel.
