A bit more palatable than the original Affligem, quite a ways maltier, less yeasty and more notes of candied sugar and some dark fruits. A bit of overripe plum. Not a hell of a lot of character overall, but enjoyable.

Pours clear amber with a large light brown head. Aroma of strong caramel, light spice and fruit, as well as a musky old yeast. Way overcarbonated, but after some time to settle, the beer comes through as overly metallic, with sweet candy and caramel, perhaps peach too. The finish is sweet and warming.

Dark brown, slightly carbonated. Thick, frothy beige head leaves alot of lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet brown fruit (fig, raisin, plum). Flavor of roasted barley malts at first with excellent hops balance throughout. The fruitiness hits later in the aftertaste (raisins, apples). Mouthfeel is creamy and rich with hardly any alcohol discernable with a dry finish. Makes me think of what you would get brewing a hybrid Belgian / Porter... Excellent beer!
