330mL bottle from the LCBO fall release. Cool label. Wasn’t sure if I’d had this before as I get Leffe and Affligem mixed up all the time. Bottle gushed like crazy. Pours a nice clearish burgundy with a large beige head. The aroma is straight up apple cinnamon cobbler, pear, plum, seems like a mild version of La Trappe Quad, which is awesome. Smells great. The flavour is quite sharp, spicy biting at the tongue followed by the nice Belgian caramalt malts, candi sugar and subtle hints of the esters in the aroma. Very drinkable. A pretty solid little Dubbel.

750 ml bottle. Pours a large, immovable, rocky-creamy, beige head. Clear, amber-red body with abundant, pearly carbonation bubbles. Nose is of spice, some coriander and clove. Belgian caramel malts are also present...some plum prune and dark cherry. Flavor contains less of the spice than the nose, although a light rum spiciness becomes present. More sweet, dark fruit in the flavor, but it’s relatively subdued. Super smooth palate. Light-medium, well attenuated body. Malty sweet but with a dry very pleasantly dry finish. Lively carbonation with no discernible alcohol on the palate - just a mild warming sensation in the back of the throat. Overall a really, really good dubbel. A bit more robust malt presence in the flavor profile would put it over the edge for me.

Reddish brown with a small head. Fruity aroma and a slightly spicy taste. I was expecting a little more malt.

Faint sweet smell. Tastes kinda sweet as well. A little bit of roasted flavor, but it’s mostly under the tongue where it sits very briefly.

Clear reddish pour. Dark fruits on the pour. Some brown sugar but not much. Tastes of soured fruits and aged raisin. Slight tingle on the finish.

Ruby red colour, dark. Light creamy-coloured head, big, lots of CO2. Aromas of roasted malt, caramel, figgs (dry fruit). Tastes roasted, hoppy, bitter, smooth, also some fruitiness, I cannot get clear which fruit. But nice. 2 Dec 2009: drunk from tap: it’s even more balanced, very smooth and nice dark beer.
