Boasting a nutty, toffee-ish character with some chocolate notes thrown in for good measure. Medium-bodied with a rather watery finish and a cheap sweetness closing the show -- this is not well made. Did they drop refined pop sugar in this? It hits you in a bad way too. This is not how I remember Affligem. Back to the drawing board.

Bottle. Off-white high and lasting head. Hazy amber body. Sweet and fruity aroma, peach and pears I think. Flavor very different from what is indicated by the aroma. Plums and hops although it is not a bitter beer. Interesting. Alcohol percentage well hidden.

Bottled(330ml). –Brownish amber coloured, small pale brown head. Sweet malty and fruity, slight spicy, some caramel and nutty notes. Pretty boring.

Full sweet taste, a bit of a sour/bitter fisnish. Lots of flavor here. Port/sherry aroma, some fruit - plums and apples spring to mind. A fine beer.

Amber brown body with a light tan head. Initial slight burnt caramel aroma folowed up with dried fruits and spice. No noticeable caramel in the taste, more of the spices, a little bit thin although the flavour lasts the length.

[Bottle at Niels] Nice brown beer with lots of stuff. Raisins and more different fruits, malty and a hoppy finish ...or is it something else????

Bottle. Hazy ruby colour, thick long lasting head. Aroma is yeasty spice. Promising. My first few sips had a nasty metallic aftertaste to them but gradually disappeared. Taste is quite full and not to sweet. I actually think this is a very decent dubbel (and at a good price too).

cloudy light brown color, head starts off promising but fades away quickly with decent lacing. Has a wine-like aroma. Very sweet taste with nut and toffee notes. Similar to Rochefort 8. Very good.
