Bottled. Reddish brown, with a huge beige head. Cellar, yeast, dried fruits and some metal in the aroma. Metal, cellar, dried fruits, nuts and caramel in the flavor. Medium body and a dry finish. Nice. (060623)

Bottle dated 26 07 03 and had an older looking all black label. The top of the 750 mL bottle exploded off and poured a murky dark mahagany with a lot of carbonation and a head that consisted on large bubbles and fell rather quickly leaving within a minute a completely flat beer. From aroma to flavor to mouthfeel to finish this beer very much reminds me of a cheap table red wine. It is very dry and winey with a crisp tartness. Acidity and astringency are very high and the finish is that of freshly chewed grape skins. Very faint caramel and that fact that I am sitting right next to the bottle it came out of are the only things keeping me from forgetting that I am drinking a beer. Some light fruit flavors also shine through though strawberry isn’t something I get much from beer and a hint of dark cherries finds it way. Either this bottle way very improperly stored are this beer should not be kept for three years.

Bottle. Dark ruby-brown beer with a light tan head. Rich malty aroma with some dried fruit and yeasty spice. Yeasty flavor without the rich malt I would have thought. Sweet with some spice. Light raisins, caramel, and brown sugar. Body is a bit thin

I thought this was an excellent dubbel. Dark orange amber, hazy, big pillowy head. Aromas of brown sugar, undefined fruit, and something woody or nutty. Interesting palate-- sweet spice and caramel, some yeast, and an interesting licorice note in the finish that I really liked. Shared with Tyler Durden.

A dark ruby coloured beer with a firm, slightly brown head. A sweet, chocolade aroma. The flavour is sweet and malty, with some spices at the end. The flavour ends slightly dry. (Bottle 33cl)

2nd go-around this this brewer. The first beer I had (Blond) was excellent, so I was really looking forward to it and it didn’t disappoint. A strong malty aroma with dark fruits. Appearance was dark brown in color. Flavors were really nice with notes of figs, yeast, some chocolate. Finish is very clean and smooth. Excellent beer! 2 for 2 with Affligem!
