Dark brown, with froth that is mocha. Tons of roast and malts in the aroma, fireside, and wood. Spicy flavour profile, sweet malty wood, some fig. Pretty smooth mouthfeel, creamy too. Some lacing for the entire drink. Watery finish. Good.

(BJCP Class) Strong candy Carmel aroma. Nice dark brown color light head. Strong malt presence and the flavor give off both the dry fruit and malt taste. Smooth/dry/nice beer. Not overwhelming in the alcohol. I liked this beer. Finally a Belgian I can drink and enjoy.

Poured a great rusty brown color with a tan, fizzy head. The nose was of raisin roasted malts, citrus and hops resins. The taste was fruity, with a solid malt foundation. It’s a little sweet up front, but a tartness kicks in by the mid-taste and finished with a biting peppery finish. The feel was nice, slightly creamy with very little carbonation. Not really a world-class dubbel, but an enjoyable one nonetheless.

Dark brown colour. Normal head. A fine dubbel, aroma has fine malty notes, flavor bitter-sweetish. Think it will get better storing it.

Dark ruby color, good tanned creamy head, lace. Fruity, spicey licorice aroma with oaky notes. Medium-bodied, smooth . Spicey, dry, slightly alcoholic. Bitterish aftertaste. Reasonable balanced but aroma promises more than flavor gives.

Nice dark brown appearance with a thick lingering head. Taste is mild with a strong malt backbone and a somewhat spicy flavor. Not one of the best, but a solid example of the style.

Compared to other Belgian Abbey ales, this one is nothing to get excited about. A friend told me that this is being discontinued on my area (Atlanta, GA), so I got a good deal on it. Definitely better than the average beer, but if you are going to drink Belgian ale, get the really good stuff.

Apetizing, warm brown appearance w a cool dim touch... hm, it smells of dark bread "kavring" (pumpernickel-like). It smells refreshing yet aged. No huge body here, but nice flavours of bread and spices. High carbonation.
