6 Jun 2005 - (B&B Enich Anders) - Good sweet malt and hop aroma. Slight cloudiness, brown-red colour, with great head and good lacing. Light malt & hop flavour, easy to drink but not enough malt or distinctive taste for me. Light easy drinking bitter finish, abit thin, but still good and some lingering malt and hops. I’m a little indecisive about this one.

Pours hazy reddish brown with a thick tan head. Phenolic aroma of dark bread, apples, figs, chocolate, and alcohol. Taste is slightly metallic and spicy with a toasted earthiness and a hint of cherry. Finish is slightly sweet, moderately bitter, and moderately acidic. Body is light to medium, and has dense carbonation with a soft mouthfeel. Some sips I feel satisfied, and others I’m left wishing for more of something. Not bad, but nothing special. At $4 for 750ml I can’t complain too much.

Bottled. Malty and spicy aroma.Herbal, spicy malt flavour. Medium sweet. The herbal and spicy flavours (maybe koriander?) of this beer are highly unwelcome in a dubbel for my liking.

Bouteille datant d’environ 3-5 ans.

750mL, fairly aged. Applesauce meets meaty dark malts in the nose. Body is brown to ruby, offering a fading off-white head that never laces. The yeastiness never steals the show from the interesting mostly malty flavor range, but the integration certainly leaves room for perfection. Anise-like chocolate bars flirt with dryish oxidized papery and penny notes. Bready nature works adequately with the berry-ish fruitiness. ALcohol warmth a bit more present than you’d anticipate at this strenght. Surprisingly high carbonation, would be quite engaging if it were a bit rounder.
