Bottle. Hazy dark amber with rocky head. Dark caramelly sugary and fruity aroma with alcohol. More spice and dark fruits in flavor and some chocolaty hints, and alcohol was fairly present in peppery spices. Kind of a light body, but a fairly drinkable dubbel for certain.

Medium amber/brown with no head. Aroma has some yellow fruit(not banana), sour dough bread and a little sweet malt. Flavor is all burnt grains. Aftertaste has some sour fruit in it. Not sure how this gets a 3.5?

My goodness, this bottle really delivered. Its initial presentation is that of a cross between, say, a Scotch ale and a double bock. Fumes of sweetness in the aroma, like maybe brown sugar. Body presents itself as somewhat soft and medium on the palate. Chocolately and some hints of dark sweet fruits such as plums, and then some banana bread. Finish is non-dramatic, some hint of that fruitiness but otherwise not much lingers. Extra special goody points for the aroma and appearance, and the rest falls neatly and respectably into place. Subjectively I’d rate it in the high 3’s, but the numbers happen to work to its benefit here. Currently playing and hence coloring my opinion: Pink Floyd, Atom Heart Mother.

(Bottle 33 cl) Reddish brown, nice full head. Malty caramel flavours although not very dominating. Some sugars but drier and less sweet than the similar types from Grimbergen and Leffe. Classical dubbel. 180893

Bottle. Malty, sweet aroma, some brown sugar. Dark chestnut brown colour.Unstable, fizzy, bright head. Dry flavour, bordering on harsh, hint of malt and acidity. I prefer my dubbels sweeter.

Bottle: Malty caramel, fruity, yeasty, and light alcohol aroma. Pours a transparent reddish-amber with a big creamy white head. Excellent retention. Very weak flavor. Light sweetness up front with a caramel, yeasty, and light fruit finish. Actually everything is light, the fruit is just lighter than everything else. Very thin and watery. Little carbonation. Not very impressive. Thank the aroma and appearance for bumping this above a 2.

Pours slightly murky, brown in color, with thin beige head. Aroma mainly of caramel malt. Medium carbonation. Flavors of plum, caramel, and candy sugar. As it warms, some slight notes of vanilla. Not bad, but lacks complexity of some others in this style.

(Bottled) Clear, dark amber color with a large, foamy and lacy head. Mild, caramely and slightly roasted-malty aroma. Malty flavor with herbs and some licorice, and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied, warming and sweetish palate with soft, foamy carbonation. A quite pleasant, herby dubbel. Nothing spectacular or very interesting, but enjoyable enough.
