The pour produced a mega head - foamy, tan, and with the end result being lacing at its finest. The body was a coppery dark amber sort of thing, and the aroma, well it was simply (!) seriously complex and lovely, featuring fruits and spices. Better yet, it tasted like it smelled. Mouthfeel and finish - yup to both."

Some dark fruit on the nose but a little understated. Very rich, great flavour. Notes of dark fruit, spices and bread. Very smooth creamy mouth feel and good carbonation. This is a really great abby beer. Too bad it is so hard to come by in Alberta. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA

Toasted malt, dried cranberry, and cinnamon nose. High carbonation, starts sweet with mollassis and some carmel hints and turns slightly spiced with some clove and cinnamon notes. Overall, not bad, but far from being a good dubble. BMan1113VR (2942), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2009 750ml bottle. Opens with an explosive cork pop, pours with a large foamy off-white head over a hazed and extremely dark particle filled orange body. Aroma of orange peel, chocolate, dark fruits, caramel, and butterscotch. Taste is tea, caramel, orange peel, oxidation, and butterscotch. Quite a thin mouthfeel for the style. Possibly aged quite poorly. angrypirate06 (781), Texas, USA
