PorterPounder (2810), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Nov 18, 2004 Picked up at Whole Foods in Austin, Tx. Murky dark orange appearance with a frothy beige head. Good thick lacing - looks like a Belgian should. Enticing aroma of spearmint, chocolate, and tea. Flavor has some of the same accents with the spearmint showing through the strongest. Faint notes of chocolate as well. Mouthfeel has a bit of carbonation, but it feels right in this one. Overall, an excellent Dubbel.
Wim (734), Turnhout, Belgium Aug 17, 2008 cloudy amber coloured body with a off white head a sweet fruity malty aroma a sweet fruity malty taste with a malty bitter finish Borresteijn (456), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle. Dark amber brown colour, beige head. Aroma of yeast, malts. Flavour is malty sweet, yeast, fruity. High carbonation. A bit dull. TheBeerBaron (161), Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 Cloudy red amber color medium light brown head with not much bubbles seen in the glass. Sweet malt aroma at first but gives way to a wierd mold kind of smell. A definite rock sugar aroma noticed as well. Sweet initial taste transitions to a cherry tartness. Palate is light, not as bubbly as other strong belgiums. A well blended dubbel that handles its alcohol very well. pojo41 (298), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Aug 1, 2008 Poured a dark hazy brown with the typical dubbel head and lacing. Good aroma and flavors of malt, caramel, spice and a bit of fruit. Medium body makes it pretty drinkable. Pretty decent. 944play (15), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 28, 2008 750 into bordeaux glass. Just a little yeast. Anise and peach stand out against a breadier background nose. Palate carries a weird bicarbonate tingle. Good but certainly not great.
