| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 20, 2009 Pours amber with a fluffy tan head. Alcohol, toffee, spice and biscuit on the nose, almost syrupy. Alcohol comes through quite strong in the flavour, accompanied by malt, toffee and subtle sweet spices. Raisin and grape flavours are also present, but the alcohol flavour and aftertaste really dominate. Would have been better to taste at a warmer temperature, as the malt bitterness came through more as the beer warmed, subduing the alcohol flavour. donfardz64 (419), Wellington, New Zealand

A big flavoured beer, quite tart. Medium bitterness with raisin fruit flavour and a little alcohol. This fades to a nice vanilla like smoothness. Long fruity finish. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA

Pours a hazy amber with creamy head into St. Feuillien glass. Aroma of candy sugar and fruit. A fruitful bouquet in the flavor. Sweet berries and plum. A spice in the finish. Affligem beers are so good. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Bottle: Poured an amber color with a nice white head. The aroma was sweet malts. The flavor was dark fruit and sugar and spice. Overall, a awesome beer that doesn’t taste like a Christmas tree in a bottle. Excellent. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

dark rich amber pour topped with a wispy sandy white head. foamy lacing is ample, random and drippy. the ’caramel color added’ is a bit suspect though.
the aroma is full of caramel-y malt, candy/brown sugar, apple juice, light yeast and a bunch of unknown spices.
the flavor follows suit... with the addition of a faint sourness throughout and a mild spiciness on the finish. mostly malty without a trace of alcohol. medium body with lots of airy carbonation which builds and fills my mouth.
not a bad buy for four bucks!
