A bit spicy, with dark fruit notions. The 8.5% is well represented with slight esophageal burn, a highlight. Worth a try, yet not the best Tripel. Good bargain though, I should add; Great value at $5.99 for a 750ml. Borresteijn (1441), Amsterdam, Netherlands

Smells of fruit and yeast with a hint of nuttyness. Bitter at first, but then sweet and citrus takes over, definite overtones of yeast and alcohol. Overall an above average abbey, just nothing outstanding Wim (1321), Turnhout, Belgium

Got almost an apple-y taste. If you’re willing to shell out the dough, this is a good one. gunnfryd (3615), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2008 This smells exactly like soy sauce. EXACTLY. I had to go to the kitchen to confirm the similarity. I suppose that makes sense, they’re both fermented.
Anywho, the beer pours a clear gold with a formidable head. The flavour has a little bit of that soy quality -- sort of a low-key grainy sweetness (wait a second, doesn’t that describe beer?). The aftertaste hints at avocados. What a crazy brew! There’s a good deal of yeast. Malt obviously, too.. but I’m having trouble mapping words to the flavour. Finishes dry, but my mouth remucouses quickly (possibly due to the 8.5% abv). Cool.
...I swear I’m not drunk yet, guys. yngwie (5000), Kristiansand, Norway

Nice, sweet and fruity aroma with some spices and hops. Spiced and fruity flavor with a good bitterness, some yeast notes too. It finishes fruity, spiced and bitter. Medium to full body, quite dry. Nice one. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. (080620)
Bottle, 75cl corked. It pours a slightly hazy, yellowish golden body, rather fizzy, with a two-finger head leaving some lacings. The aroma is on the fruity, citrusy side, with some banana, a little alcohol and a pleasant hoppy touch. Fruity flavor too, with both citrus and banana. Some herbal and spiced notes and a fine bitterness. Finishes in the same way, with the bitterness lingering. Full-bodied, dry and effervescent. A really pleasant tripel, sure worth another try.
