thedm (3406), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 2, 2006 This bottled brew from a rating party poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that was long lasting and left behind a semi-opaque no visible carbonation brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was malty and sweet. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt and vinous. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.
Crosling (1644), Loveland, Colorado, USA May 24, 2008 Bottle. Dark tawny/brown color. Pastry shop nose (sweet fruits, breadiness) with a touch of funk. Flavor is mainly sour and funk, with some touches of chocolate and butterscotch. Pretty much a contaminated brew, but still has some enjoyable character to it. Pours a muddy red with a small creamy beige head. Super aroma. Port, caramel, very deep (over)ripe fruits, light tobacco leaves and light viniousness. Super creamy and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is despicably well-rounded with ripe fruits, chocolate, viniousness and tobacco. I find it amazing that a cellaring brew like this encompasses the high alcohol percentage so damn well.
