bb (2069), Martinez, California, USA Jul 26, 2008 Bottle. Light amber beer with a whitish head. Big honey malt aroma. Sweet honey, malt flavor with caramel and light grass. Medium bodied. Lingering honey, caramel, light mineral, and light grass. robertjm (235), El Cerrito, California, USA Jul 16, 2008 Thick foamy head. Dark golden body. Very tight carbonation. Lots of pop when first opened the bottle. Aroma is almost nil, but its got a nice light hop character to it. Fresh malty body. Heavier than the beer I had the day before. Frankly, much better than the beer I had yesterday. Hops in the aftertaste and on the palate. This is a Maibock I’d buy again! (also bought at Walnut Creek Bevmo, like the previous reviewer.) bhensonb (2832), Woodland, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle from the "Walnut Creek" BevMo. Bright copper color with a white ring for head. Fresh caramel aroma with a hint of bitter. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is light sweet malt with a little bitter for balance. A bit buttery; a bit grassy. Clean and refreshing. Whether it matches the style? It drinks very well, and I am finding it a break after a 10% barleywine. This is actually a very good lager. And I think it fits the style. TaxiDriver (474), Stadland, Germany May 22, 2008 Bottle. Moderate malty, light bread. Moderate off-white creamy head, normal long lasting. Red body. Light sweet and moderate acidic, medium duration. Light to medium body, moderate dry, soft carbonation. Too strange (sourness) for my taste. KnutAlbert (2165), Oslo, Norway Feb 26, 2008 On tap at Bibo, Bologna.
Very good excample of the style.
Malt, sourish, dried fruit, cereals. Not very storng, but with a warming edge.
