Very, very smooth - chickory, cocoa, lightly sweet (lactose?), mild coffee. Excellent pH. Some pruney fruit. Long building bitter finish. Not much CO2. A fine brewpub offering, but more of a stout. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2004 Dark mahogany black, with a thin, dense creamy tan head. It has a light roasty aroma. The flavor is excellent with a big, bold roast, a little chocolate. There's a nice supporting bit of citrusy hops that are noticeable but in the background. The main flaw is that the bitterness is a bit rough in the finish. A stout-like porter. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA

Nice lingering flavors of chocolate mocha, with some toasted malt, and a surprising bit of hops in there as well. Tasty. CaptainCougar (5487), Rockville, Maryland, USA
