NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Aug 25, 2007 Draught. This is pretty dark stuff, not remarkable for the style, but dark enough. The nose is sweet with noted chocolate oatmeal. Minimal roastiness and a slight gummy thing are going on. The mouthfeel is pretty solid, creamy but slightly carbonated. The finish hints at oats, but toasty flavors are minimal. It’s fairly sweet, but not excessive in anyway. Pretty decent brew! Quiver (139), Augusta, Georgia, USA Apr 10, 2007 Color was deep reddish black. Taste was a little thin and subtle, but overall a good tasting beer. I prefer my oatmeal stouts with a little thicker body, this one was a little on the thin watery side. But all in all is a easy drinking tasty beer. Plus your options for breweries in Aiken is somewhat limited... actually, this one is it. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Mar 29, 2007 Draft pint. Brown black opaque beer with dark brown, somewhat lasting head. Coffee and dark malt aroma. Taste is similar, with some chocolate, hops, oats and a whiff of smoke. Body is medium. Not bad, but a litttle too much dark roast coffee for my taste. shrubber85 (2832), Wallhalben, Germany Jul 15, 2006 Tap. Oatmeal and molasses aroma. Opaque black color with moderate head. Light smoky molasses and oatmeal malt flavor. Very light but given summer temps in SC, it hit the spot. Would be a great beer with more body. CaptKirk (175), Hephzibah, Georgia, USA Oct 22, 2005 Lovely to look at and delightful to have. This oatmeal stout is one of my favorites. My list of favorites keeps growing. Very deep reddish brown almost black with little head. Very strong roasted aroma as it gets close to the nose. Very smooth from start to finish. You expect there to be an aftertaste, but it never arrives. A very good choice while people watching fromt he second story of this brewery.
