This imperial stout pours a dark black color from the tap. Medium sized tan foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and some vanilla. A medium bodied Imperial Stout. The malts are chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. The hops are earthy. Nice balance between the coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and hops. Good carbonation. A deceptive Imperial Stout. Lots of flavor, and a far amount of alcohol but it does not taste that huge. Nicely made. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Snojerk321 (2002), San Diego, California, USA
