Pours a deep caramel body with a modest, creamy tan head. The aroma is a tad light, but filled with dark caramel with milk chocolate. Rather thin bodied, perhaps a bit watery. Tasty, tho’ - caramel with chocolate and dark brown sugar. Just a bit too thin, and could use more carbonation.

Jun 5, 2008 Pours a murky dark brown with some ruby highlights. Has a small off white rocky head. Aromas of fruit and licorice, with a bready biscuity maltiness. Really rich and easy to drink.

Nov 2, 2007 Bottle from State Line. Dark brown color with aroma of caramel malt, some brown sugar, figs, toffee. Medium palate with flavors of roasty caramel malt, slight nuts, brown sugar, and some toffee and backup hops late.

May 10, 2007 Updated: May 11, 2007From the bottle into a pint glass - Dark brown with a light frothy head that dissipated quickly but retained a nice lacing. Very good aroma, nice mellow bready toffee flavor with a touch of caramel. Very good beer.

malt, some whole wheat like bread character as well. Seems somewhat sweet. Bready on the tongue, toasty in a whole wheat sense.
Definitely on the sweet side. Body and mouthfeel are on par, moderate. Clean finish, remains bready and sweet, light
toasted malts with maybe even a hint of dark pitted fruit and unripened black cherry linger. Decent.

Dec 9, 2006 From a 500 ml. euro bottle with an unmarked freshness date on the front label.
Poured a slightly hazy caramel nutty brown with a foamy, fluffy, creamy head that settled into a thin bubbly lacing, minimal amount of laced ringed sticking.
Smells like a dunkel, aromas of toasted nuts and caramel, a light breadiness, a little cocoa and dark fruits with a touch of medicinal herbs.
The proper moderate carbonation that I like in German lagers and a malty crisp, velvety smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
Tastes of caramel, cocoa, nuts and a little grainy bready, a trace of raisin sweetness, a light herbal hop with bare traces of spices, and a chocolate and caramel maltiness in the finish with a lingering fruitiness.
A nice dunkel lager, easy drinkability, purchased for $1.99 a bottle, so I feel it also affordable.
