beerguy101 (3478), Newark, California, USA Aug 20, 2005 22oz bottle. Dark brown color. Large sized white foamy head with decent lacing. Aroma is malty and bready, with a touch of sweetness. A medium to light bodied bock. Malts are bready, slightly sweet and slightly fruity. Hops are mild and slightly citrusy. Nice very drinkable bock. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. 5000 (2400), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA May 4, 2005 Bottle: Dark caramel, very muddy, mediocre off-white head, foamy, settles fairly quick, fairly sticky lacing. Malty nose, thick, slight whole wheat bread, subtle dark fruit whafts. Semi-sweet, smooth, soft malts, slightly stronger dark fruit notes. Very clean. Moderate body and mouthfeel. Somewhat dry finish, very ale like with a hint of hop bitterness. Light, to me at least, but very drinkable. Thanks Bill!
DA (2425), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Feb 25, 2005 On tap at the Horse Brass Pub. Pours darker red/brown with a tall off-white head. This was a much fruitier bock than i was expecting, kinda like they fermented it with a hybrid lager/ale yeast. Malty throughout with a well balanced hop finish with a bit of fruitiness. Very smooth light weight on the palate, finishing clean with a slight mineral hardness. after4ever (1719), Brier, Washington, USA May 24, 2006 Bomber. Dang, what a beautiful beer to look at--pours deep coppery brown with an almost comically enormous white head. Looks almost like beaten egg whites. The nose is fairly vacant, which, as long as we’re dinging this beer, may have something to do with the rather hollow finish. There’s good matly sweetness in the body, though, and the body’s great--a few smallish bubbles bring up the touch of hops that are here, and the attack is super creamily smooth. Elusive flavors, though, all very mild and mostly on the sweet side. Ultimately this beer is fun to look at and drink, but the flavor and aroma don’t stick to your ribs much. I’ll gladly order/buy it again, but it would be hard to rate it far ahead of any really good bock. greenhorn1 (370), Eugene, Oregon, USA May 27, 2006 Nice reddish copper color with a thick creamy head. Strong sweet malt taste with a slight hoppy alcohol presence. It has a dry bitter aftertaste, but the initiall swallow goes down smoothly with tastes of coffee and citrus. I enjoyed the beer, but I am not sure it is true to style.
