Black color with light head & lacing. The aroma is very roasted, almost smoky with some of the juniper showing through. Tastes very good, lots of oak & smoke here with a touch of coffee & chocolate in the finish. Well crafted & tasty. Interesting flavors, unique.
CASK:head is more defined and resistant. Oak & maple jump out more in the aroma. Absolutely delicious on cask. I WANT MORE!!! Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 5, 2004 Cask: Very dark brown pour, opaque. Tons of head comprised of big bubbles and awesome lacing. Coffee, chocolate, roasted malts blend into a great mocha aroma. Very nice. Mocha flavors, with some chocolate, fruit and hops. Hints of wood, perhaps oak. Some maple as well. Very creamy body and palate. Nice bitter finish of hops. This simply rocked. This was a damn fine porter. harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jan 10, 2006 Dark brown with ruby highlights, foamy tan ring that is elsuive and disappears. Big berry nose that evolves into some roasted coffee and cocoa. Almost smoky in the nose and on the palate while drinking with lots of roasted chocolate and just a hint of jumiper. Finish lingers dancing uniquely on the palate. This is great stuff. acrdz (4248), Pennsylvania, USA Dec 29, 2003 Updated: Jun 19, 2006Deep brown with a light brwon head. Smoked pine and molasses in the nose, with an aroma very similar to Alpha Klaus. Very earthy. Thick and creamy, rich milk chocolate flavor throughout, with a gritty palate and an earthy pine flavor. Like a milder and smoother Alpha Klaus, with a hop bite towards the end, and an amazing strength and thickness for only 4.8% BuckeyeBoy (1113), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 12, 2008 On Tap at Alameda Brewing Co.
