Cletus (4999), Connecticut, USA Aug 8, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Irishboy. Pours reddish brown with an off white head. Smells of sweet malt, flowers, lemons, sugar, some perfume, tangy malt and roses. Tastes of roses, earthy hints, some soapy hints, some hints of straw, Complex and very enjoyable. hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Aug 6, 2007 Updated: Sep 3, 2007nice rich copper color. aromas of sweet malts and cooked carrots. flavor is mostly of cold tea with some mild hops. could put a few away mowing the lawn...
re-rated directly from bottle...for some reason it is much richer and full bodied when sipped right out of the bottle. the flavor gets an upgrade. now there are hints of honey, licorice root and dried herbs... patrick820 (69), San Luis Obispo, California, USA Aug 5, 2007 12 oz bottle from bevmo. pours a deep copper color with a small head that quickly dissapears. The flavor is mostly sweet malt. It feels very nice in the mouth. Overall its a good beer if your in the mood for something a bit sweet. stefanje (936), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jul 30, 2007 Updated: Mar 31, 200812 oz bottle. Pours a rich copper color with an off white head. Aroma was very light with some spice and molasses. Flavor was mostly sweet malts with some anise, molasses, and a tinge of orange flavor. Hops were minimal, more hoppiness would have been welcomed. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. Finish was sticky and filmy with more molasses flavor. Makes for a good clean-out-the-garage beer. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jul 29, 2007 Draft at Billy’s Bar and Grille in Aberdeen, WA on 7/23/07. Clear deep copper with a creamy off white head . Molasses aroma, little in the way of hops in the aroma. Smooth medium body with a hint of stickiness. This is just a bit too sweet for me, and the finish reflects the malt dominance. adamjf (9), USA does not count Jul 23, 2007 This is like the Summer Ale but with some more maltiness and more frothy. Thought the flavor was very good - a good mix between a lighter ale and a darker beer like a porter. spadedbearsays (9), USA does not count Jul 22, 2007 I’m currently in alaska and read up on the breweries before I made my trip out here. All i head was alaskan amber this alaskan amber that, almost like hearing about fat tire all the time since I live in dnever. I thought for sure it would be a low quality run of the mill amber, but I was presently suprised. Although I cannot say it was one of the best ambers I have had, it was good. Sits well on the palate, and wasnt too floraly(is that a word) but it was a very balanced beer for a microbrew, I guess you might say this is there safe bet for not going out of business..... JAF737300 (791), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 20, 2007 This alt beer sets up with a deep amber color woth a medium head. It shows nice notes of sweet malt on the nose and then within the palate the malt brings some denseness along with the floral notes of the hops. It finishes with quite a blanced impression.
