Beerlando (2284), Orlando, Florida, USA May 18, 2007 Updated: Jun 5, 2007One of my all-time favorites. Discovered it on a Princess Cruise/Land Tour of Alaska in 2005. Loved it so much I lugged two cases back to Florida with me. Amber color with lots of caramel and malt, with some faint spice. Very smooth and easy to drink. Love it. Wish I could find it in Florida. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA May 17, 2007 12oz bottle-pours a disappearing off white head and amber color. Aroma is medium malt-some light caramel, grain, faint spice-hops. Taste is medium malt-some light caramel, grain, equal flat/spice-hops. Nice for my taste a bit over hopped if I was rating to style. OK carbonation. troopie (851), USA May 11, 2007 Bottle, pours pale gold, almost like a pilsener. Thin white head, also like a pils. Faint caramel aroma. Full malty body with some spiciness and much bitterness. An all over the tongue finish. CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA May 1, 2007 12 Oz Pour. A gentle breeze of salty caramel wafts forth, with a touch of banana and not much else. Pouring a clear ruddied orange, the beer springs forth a rocky wheat-colored rim. Flavor touches the tongue with a unique palate and a bit of dark malt flavor. There almost seems to be some carob, or smoked wheat, or burnt toffee. Sugars seemed really subdued, glassy and glazed over. Inaccessible. Caramels ooze forth a bit, but restrain themselves. Plastic. A bubble of ester gum and yeast byproducts captures the backend, leaving an almost rotten hop character behind. Light bitterness over stale chocolate don’t make it a particularly suave drinker. Banana heat warms the middles and fades into the glassine sugar-water. Not particularly exciting. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Apr 25, 2007 Clear amber color with a small white head. Apple juice and black pepper in the aroma. Appley taste with a hint of caramel and maybe some more black pepper. Simple and light but very good for what it is. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2007 Amber color with a small head. Aroma was sweet & bready, but put me off a bit. Taste was somewhat sweet and gingerbread-like, but I wasn’t really getting in to this beer. Could have been better. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 18, 2007 Updated: Apr 26, 2007tap... came out a clear ruby red with little to no head. Sweet malty aroma, flavors of malt, caramel and something else sweet that reminded me of twizzlers. Not enough hop backing as I would hope. UselessGdTaste (363), Long Beach, California, USA Apr 10, 2007 Very malty. Not hoppy. Makes a good quenching beer that does not turn bad when it gets warm. I should buy this more often for friends who want to start to venture out of the swill.
