Commercial Description:
Richly malty and long on the palate, with just enough hop backing to make this beautiful amber colored "alt" style beer notably well-balanced.

A few weeks ago my sister gave me this odd glass that was given to her by a friend who moved. It didn’t match anything of their glassware so her husband didn’t want it. I almost forgot I put it on the bottom shelf of the beer glass hutch until my dad brought this beer back from Alaska for me. I was reading the suggested glassware for this beer is a Stange (Slender Cylinder) and had now idea what that was; wouldn’t you know the glass my sister had no use for is exactly what I wanted. It was providential that I should enjoy this beer in this glass at this time; and a pleasure indeed! Appearance: Pours a beautiful ruby brown color with an off-white head that fades fast. Smell: Malty! Very malty and bready too; with a nice touch of floral hop in the nose as well. Taste: Starts off malty and sweet with hints of caramel and fruit parallel to the bready grain amber malt flavor. There is also a grassy hop presence that makes itself know but does not over dominate this brew. The finish is dry with a nice lingering aftertaste of gentle but firm hops and doughy dryness. Mouthfeel: Oily slick through the center with a solid malt backbone and yet smooth and slight creamy around the edges with a nice dryness that prickle the palate. Drinkability: This is a perfect anytime any occasion easy drinking beer. It is enjoyable for savoring and perfect as a session beer. The small ABV I didn’t even feel after just one but the tasty flavor stayed with me after it was finished. Simply put it would always be good choice! Well done Alaskan Brewing Co. Hope this is helpful. Cheers!

12oz bottle from Beerandblues2 poured a super clear amber color with a quickly diminishing off white head. Aroma of I think English hops and caramel malts. Taste is smooth with a big malt bite and a slightly dry hoppy finish.

Dark amber, large offwhite head. Toasted malt and light grass aromas. Almost burnt biscuit flavors with a slight hop bite. Long dry ashy finish. I remember it tasting better than this.

Bottled. Poura a clear coppery amber with a tan head. Sweet malt, honey and yeast in the aroma with a mild hint of floral hops. The flavor is sweetly nutty toffee. Quick finish of fruit and a touch of bitterness. Super-sessionable.

Creamy, malty body and light malt aroma. Nice amber color. A good easy drinker and something out of the ordinary.

Pours a dark amber. Flavors of malt, caramel, and a little smoke. Sweet with a small amount of hops.

FNA great beer. One of the most unique and outstanding efforts worldwide, stands up and surpasses belgians and germans with authority. Welcome to Alaska and the spirit of the last frontier where effort and quality matter as much as life, itself.

Aroma of malt and a bit of candy. Coppery amber color with virtually no head. Starts with a slightly smoky malt which goes to malt which stays with malt. A bit of hop shows up, keeping it palatable. Good. Not a hophead ale, but good.
