NeonLX (258), Wisconsin, USA Jun 22, 2005 Updated: Jun 20, 2006From a 12-oz. bottle, pours a medium reddish amber with a full head that only gradually subsides. Good lacing. Aroma of malt & some fruitiness. Initial full malt taste with a followup of moderate spicy hops. Exceedingly smooth, rich palate. A definite winner. I had to travel to Anchorage, AK to try this; no local retailers carry it. mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA Jun 18, 2005 Poured a brilliant copper/red with a pillowy two fingers of eggshell head. The nose was sweet, grainy malts with a soft smattering of earthy, grassy hops. The taste began with a blast of malty sweetness with undercurrents of biscut and carmel qualities. In the middle there was a fruitness (berries, peaches, and oranges). The end was similar to the nose, with a mild earthy, grassy bitterness that does manage to balance the beer nicely. There isn’t anything special about this beer but not every beer needs to be “mind blowing.” Sometimes simple and tasty is all a beer needs to be. I’ll keep em’ on hand. noattention (20), California, USA Jun 15, 2005 Great, great taste. Probably the best amber I’ve had. You can drink 5 of them, for better or for worse! jimhilt (1662), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jun 8, 2005 Pours a three-finger white head which quickly fades and leaves no lace. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Nice clear, deep amber color. Nose is malty. Starts mellow and sweet, finishes smooth with a touch of hops. Very good Alt. $2.59 for a 12oz bottle from One Stop Oasis Las Vegas, NV.
Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jun 2, 2005 Copper-toned with a healthy white head, this is a fairly decent alt. The aroma is a toasty caramel with some earthy hopping - well balanced. Very lively in the mouth, it’s got a rich toasted malt flavor with mild hop bitterness and some peppery spiciness. It’s got a crisp, dry finish. Well done. Stew41 (1040), Caulfield, Australia May 30, 2005 To my mind built in a lighter weight scotch ale style. No head retention, looks like cola. Not much happening smell wise. Starts off well in the mouth but falls away in the back half. Cola trait is offputting. (Crap note I know!). FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA May 26, 2005 Dark Reddish orange brown color. Medium sized white foamy head. Big malt and caramel aromatics. Caramel and crystal malt flavors, aligned with a slight toastiness. Finish is slightly ester fruity sweet, with a crispness of residual hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, but very clean and wieldy. maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 19, 2005 Draught. Smokey deep, deep amber; could be called red. Nose is sugary malt and syrup. Sickly sweet with traces of biscuit and acetone. Medium bodied, thinner than I expected. Finishes sweet, watery, flabby. Hopless. Overall impression is of cola backwash. Lacks flavor, structure, and balance. They should make people drink this dreck on “fear factor”.
