MayorQuimby (100), Santa Barbara, California, USA Apr 19, 2005 Bottle. Pours a deep amber color, almost coppery, clear with lots of bubbles, and a compact white head that didn’t leave much lacing behind. Aroma is malty and very fruity, and I found it to be extremely pleasant. Flavor is very sweet, a bit of bitterness in the finish, but it doesn’t overpower the sweetness. Good balance between maltiness and the light fruity flavors, not much hoppiness. Mouthfeel is about right, but I thought its carbonation level was too high, I had bubbles crawling through my mouth. Overall, a respectable brew. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Apr 19, 2005 Bottle. Thanks to jsquire for sharing. Small tan head that was mostly lasting, fine-small sized bubbles, sparse lacing, carbonated, transparent, and a dark copper hue. Malty, caramel, sweet, and light hop aroma. Flavor was sweet, malty and hoppy. Tingly palate. Light-medium body. VTHopHead (895), Barre, Vermont, USA Apr 14, 2005 Bottle - Pours a nice copper color with little head or carbonation. Aroma is of caramely malt with just a slight hint of hops. Flavor is well balanced for the style and is of mildy roasted malt without the harsh bitterness of deeply roasted malt and, again, enough hops to balance the malt sweetness. A fairly good effort... reminds me of Otter Creek Copper Ale back home. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Apr 7, 2005 Reminds me a little of fat tire. Excellent aroma and color (dark copper). Not as malty as FT, but a little sweeter. The flavor lingers. A good beer, but a little pricey. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Apr 5, 2005 Draft at O’Briens in San Diego. Slightly caramel aroma with metallic hints. Slightly sweet notes in the nose as well. Transparent amber/mahogany color with virtually no head. Mildly sweet, sugary, creamy beer. Roasty and malted. Nice finish. Not extraordinary, but not poor either. Macanudo (14), USA Apr 3, 2005 Lots of flavor but not real appealing to me. Fruity and sweet with a touch of heavy sugar. Tastes a bit heavy to me. flemdawg (485), Naples, Florida, USA Mar 28, 2005 Thanks to Jsquire for sharing this at his house. Amber colored with a thin white head and some decent lacing. Sweet sugary fruity aroma with a hint of carmel. Carmels, sweet fruits and a touch of malts. Not too bad, I liked it. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Mar 25, 2005 Small amount of quick to disappear head. Beautiful amber coloring. You can taste the caramel. The malts are almost too much. Easy drinking, yet couldn’t have too many and certainly couldn’t drink quickly.
