Carmel initiation with some apple..pie crust..sugar..apple juice finish..Pretty darn sweet & malty but its an altbier..so what do you expect

Aug 18, 2004 Updated: Aug 19, 2004Pours a copper color, with minimal head. Smells malty with a hint of hoppiness. Has a sour malty flavor. Has a lingering aftertaste that will not go away. I don't care for this too much.

Jul 19, 2006 On tap at La Comida in Cody, WY. Pours a medium amber with a medium off-white head. Very nice caramel and malt aroma. Flavor followed the aroma. Great finish, very smooth. Wish this was available on the East Coast.

Sep 8, 2003 Nice amber color,small fast fading off white head.Malty,sweet aroma,Malty taste slight bitter side mildly hopped with a malt after taste and faint hops in the after taste as well.The alcohol seems to peek through from time to time in the taste and faintly in the going down a slight burn.Still a fairly good brew.

Oct 2, 2006 GABF 06. Amber in color obviously. Aroma is caramel malt, with some hops. Taste is caramel with a good hop balance and a clean finish.

Feb 25, 2002 Updated: Oct 27, 2003ReRate:bottle-Well, this brew was not like i remembered it to be. This was one of my first ratings, so it was not very strict. aroma full of malt, rasins, and more malt. Flavor was more of the same, but with pears and bananas. Old world barleywine mini? Apple cider finish-quite complex. No hops to speak of other than in the long part of the finish. Schell schmaltz alt is IMO better. This sample had a bad metallic mid section to it. Oct 23, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours an amberish amber, with a decent head that didn’t last long. Aromas were mostly malty and a decent hop character in the flavor. Slightly bitter finish. OK beer.

Apr 16, 2008 Tasted this brew in Seattle for the first time. Pours a clear amber colour with a small thin white head. fruity, a little nutty- aromas of caramel, toffe and lightly roasted malts.
