| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 18, 2007 Amber color with a small head. Aroma was sweet & bready, but put me off a bit. Taste was somewhat sweet and gingerbread-like, but I wasn’t really getting in to this beer. Could have been better. hayduke (1658), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 15, 2004 Bottle. Nice amber color. Good white head. Complex odors and flavors, with fruits, malts, and hops in good balance. Very nice taste. A far better than average offering. GG (1650), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2006 I enjoy this one from time to time, but my best experience came when I had it in Alaska with my wife while we were on a cruise. It went INCREDIBLY well with the king salmon chowder that a local micro-brew in Skagway was selling. While the bottle version is slightly different, it is still very good. Complex malt flavour, medium-bodied, and just the right amount of hops to let you know they are there. Copper colored with a nice white head. Nothing else can really be said that hasn’t. Always a good buy. douglas88 (1642), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2009 On tap at the 2009 NABA. Pours a deep and bright amber color with a large foamy white head. The aroma is sweet caramel malts, light fruitiness and earthy malt. The flavor was similar; easygoing caramel, slightly bready malts and light fruit. Easygoing and very drinkable. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2006 120z bottle-A light amber in color with a nice head that keeps its retention. Has an aroma of malt and caramel and nuts. A malty flavor with hints of honey. A light to medium body. A nice tasting beer. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 19, 2006 Made a decent appearance, poured a clear reddish amber with a foamy pale tannish head that quickly settled into a thin lacing, moderate carbonation.
Very faint aromas, toasted grains and a nutty, sweet malty.
A semi-crisp, smooth medium bodied mouth feel, average drinkability.
Semi-sweet tea and floral light hop bitterness, a watery toasted graininess, nutty and caramelized sugary maltiness and a watery sweet and fruity finish.
This is my least favorite beer I’ve had from Alaskan Brewing, an average altbier at best.
