| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 17, 2009 On tap at the brewery. Got the history and its more impressive than the beer. A little darker and heavier than I expected. Not as malty as an altbier. Not bad, just not as good as the pale. CanIHave4Beers (883), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2009 Pours with a fluffy semi-loose head with a lighter amber color. The aroma is coppery with a spicy and sweet malty character with some cinnamon thrown in... cool.
The flavor is nutty and roasty (roasted nuts?) with some apple. The beer is largely dry but with a nice caramel backbone and just enough hop bitterness to make it remarkably well rounded. This reminds me a bit of the Uerige Classic. and pears, thoroughly enjoyable.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 12, 2008 Pours a dark but clear amber with a minimal head and a freshly sparged grain aroma, very raw and malty. Tastes like a Maibock, very bready and sweet. Decent carb, body is reasonable thick, not bad but I’ve had better Altbiers. Thanks to G for the trade! glennmastrange (857), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 26, 2009 Bottle. Light to moderate cookie note for the malt, light herbs and dough for the hops and yeast, with cardboard and dried dark fruits in the background. Head is frothy, slightly off-white, with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Flavor starts moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery and has a lively carbonation. Mild overall, but an easy drinking Altbier. Taverner (855), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 12, 2008 Updated: Feb 14, 2008Overall good beer - the aroma is fruity, the flavor yeast like and ending on a slightly bitter note. Much better altbier than Pinkus’. A good session beer, and at 5% you can session quite a bit. ON SECOND ANALYSIS: I like this stuff in session. A half yard filled with this stuff goes down very well. The malts really linger on the aftertaste - after the initial bitter goes away. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA

The body contained soft carbonation, was transparent and caramel brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of sweet malty bready . Its mouth feel is initially tingly with a palate and a very mild bock aftertaste. Its flavor contained sweet malt mild cherry notes. Strange blackdonald kimcgolf (832), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 6, 2007 Updated: Apr 7, 2007Poured to a dark copper color, with thin off-white head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Aroma was a very pleasant blend of malty dark fruit, peat and a hint of smokey wood. Flavor was not quite as pronounced, although more of the same. Mouthfeel was slightly sweet and rich, and finish long with a slightly sweet aftertaste. I could not drink many of these at once, but a good tasting sipping beer. msante79 (830), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA
