Faint aroma of red grapes and apples in the nose that carries into the flavor, which prominently features the taste of caramel. Medium bodied with an enjoyable sweetness, but nothing special. tarheels86 (758), Washington DC, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Pours a clear amber with a very small head. High carbonation. Aroma is pretty much nothing, maybe the smell leftover in the kitchen after throwing a kegger. The taste overall is very sweet but unrefined. I was disappointed by this. More than anything it reminded me of a Coors Light but darker to the eye. After trying the Alaskan Winter Ale I was pretty sure anything else from this brewery would be a step up...I was wrong.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2008 Draft at Library Alehouse in Santa Monica, CA. Pours a deep brown with ruby highlights and a light tan head. The aroma is toast, toffee, and fruit. The flavor follows the aroma: sweet, toasty, caramel toffee, subtle chocolate, unexpectedly ester-fruity. The finish is full, and the mouthfeel is medium-full in body with soft carbonation. Overall, a very interesting ale. I’ve never had an authentic altbier, so I can’t speak to the accuracy of this product, but I was pleasantly surprised by it. ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA

22oz bottle that was amber in color (no surprise right?). The smell was a very nice fruity aroma. I liked it. The taste however was kinda funky and departed from the smell. It was very easy to drink and I thought it would be a decent session beer but I am going to have to drink this a second time to form a good opinion.
