| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2005 Thanks to Buck Dich for this. Alts tend to be "middle-of-the-road", but this one has pizzazz. Pours deep copper with medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, toffee, cognac, slight brown sugar. Tastes malty, with caramel, toffee, slight honey and brown sugar, and some finishing hops. Extremely smooth palate. Fabulous. A top notch altbier. Ernest (4495), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 10, 2007 Updated: Mar 22, 2008Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly hoppy (apricot), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Fresher bottle (new to Colorado), but still very boring. Not much like a German altbier either. Terrible head character/retention. motelpogo (4395), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 15, 2006 Aroma of malt and a bit of candy. Coppery amber color with virtually no head. Starts with a slightly smoky malt which goes to malt which stays with malt. A bit of hop shows up, keeping it palatable. Good. Not a hophead ale, but good. heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 4, 2006 Thanks for the bottle, Dansting. Dark copper body with a quickly dissapting khaki head. The aroma is rich with some chocolate, oranges and good bread. The taste is The taste is sweet with some caramel and iced tea. There is also some light chocolate. There gets to be a stronger cocoa note as you drink this. A nice chane of pace, but a little sweet for me. BBB63 (4238), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2004 Deep amber hue with fizzy off-white disappearing head and no lace. The aroma has a large sweet caramel tone along with hazelnut, buttered biscuit, floral hops, and barnyard yeast esters. The taste starts with a plum like fruity tone and those sweet malts detected on the nose. A nice bitterness shines through more towards the midsection. Nutty and sweet final finish. The mouthfeel is moderately full and lively. An above average Amber Ale. If you like caramel malts, you will like this beer. Thanks JSquire for the brew. cgarvieuk (4198), Edinburgh, Scotland
