Nice and creamy head to boot. Full, medium body. Texture was thickish, with brawny carbonation. Some unique malt flavors: candy-coated nuts, carmelized wood, toast, and a hint of smoke. A little cloying, but not enough to bother me. Some fruit flavors popped in like welcomed guests, such as apricot, peach, and grape skins. Hops were earthy and herbal. Very mild bitterness. Slightest hint of sourness. The "Fat Tire" of Alaska, if you will. boto (1344), Granby, Connecticut, USA

A decent malty aroma with a bit of citrus. Flavor is malty without being sweet. A hint of roastiness. Slightly bitter finish. Another fine Northwestern brewery. I have enjoyed this an a few trips to the Seattle area. Even with all the choices out there, it is still a beer I come back to. rudolf (1783), Buffalo, New York, USA

Flavor is soft fruitiness, strong rich malt, a bit of cola in the finish. I don’t remember liking any other alts this much. Cornboy (417), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA

A bit on the maltier side up front, quite creamy smooth for an amber. Medium/heavy mouthfeel was a pleasant surprise. Quite nice Lebeter (11), West Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours deep copper with medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, toffee, cognac, slight brown sugar. Tastes malty, with caramel, toffee, slight honey and brown sugar, and some finishing hops. Extremely smooth palate. Fabulous. A top notch altbier. brewshthereen (316), Oregon, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2004 This is rich and creamy. Nice malt/hop balance. Roasted malt, carmel, toffee and nutty flavors. This is really good. Has a nice fresh baked bread quality about it. Overall, delicious indeed. Dansting (222), Overland Park, Kansas, USA
