Appley taste with a hint of caramel and maybe some more black pepper. Simple and light but very good for what it is. AmazonMatt (285), Panama
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2005 Dark copper color with a decent head. The aromas were mild but fresh malts medium roasted and light sprucy hops. The taste was decent, with a fair blend of hops and malts, not very bitter for my preference and less dry than I prefer. But from what I undertand of the style, it is supposed to be more balanced and have the hops more subdued. So, rating by the style, then I guess it is pretty good rendition. Pleasant aroma and very malty taste with a crisp clean finish. Easily had more than one. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA

Caramel toffe, flavor, slight graininess, strong finish but poor aftertaste. Good, balanced flavor initially but dwindles over time. Taverner (883), San Ramon, California, USA

Much better altbier than Pinkus’. A good session beer, and at 5% you can session quite a bit. ON SECOND ANALYSIS: I like this stuff in session. A half yard filled with this stuff goes down very well. The malts really linger on the aftertaste - after the initial bitter goes away. kamish (92), Lake Stevens, Washington, USA

Wish I could find this someone on tap, that would be awesome, i’ll be sure to pick this one up again.
